Summary/objective

The Human Resources Front Desk Clerk provides complex clerical support to Human Resources functions in aspects such as employment, recordkeeping, reporting and other support. This position serves as the primary contact for the front office, delivering excellent customer service.

  • Responsible for maintaining excellent customer service in the HR Office Reception area
  • Receives and screens telephone calls and inquiries, providing information or referring callers to appropriate individual(s) and/or organizational unit(s) for response
  • Greets employees in person, ascertains nature of business, and provides information related to Human Resources
  • Receives, processes, and distributes departmental mail; coordinates out bound mail to Yuma
  • Researches, responds, or refers employees’ questions or complaints about personnel policies, procedures, health benefits, and other general inquiries
  • Receives, handles, posts, and files confidential and private information including status forms, disciplinary actions, leaves of absences, crew transfers, grievances, terminations, layoffs, etc
  • Enters and maintains employee information in relational databases of human resources information (i.e., Great Plains)
  • Answers questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring, processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management
  • Responds to employment verifications, unemployment disability claims, subpoena notices, and all other general employment inquiries
  • Manages seniority listings, meeting agendas, benefits qualifications, and leaves of absence
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Assists with new hire employee registrations using the electronic onboarding system in the absence of a registration clerk
  • Serves as a backup for human resources in all commodities
  • Consistent attendance is mandatory

Required education and experience

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or similar field
  • A minimum of one year experience in Human Resources or Customer Service
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Preferred education and experience

  • A minimum of two years Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
